Report from the 8th CSMBLM congress
Dear members,
8th CSMBLM congress is a national event with international participation that takes place every 3 years. It is the most important Croatian scientific and expert event in laboratory medicine. This year it took place in Rijeka from 22nd until 26th of September 2015. The significance of this congress was recognized by about 140 participants from Croatia and neighboring countries like Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Italy, Montenegro, but also Turkey and South African Republic.
During this four day congress participants have had a chance to hear news from different aspects of laboratory medicine from most influential Croatian and foreign experts. Scientific program of congress has been dedicated to topics such as pre-analytical phase of laboratory process, harmonization, biostatistics, tumor diagnostics, hematology and coagulation, kidney disease diagnostics, molecular diagnostics, quality control and automatization. Plenary lectures highlighted some of these topics - prof. dr. sc. Mauro Panteghini talked about harmonization in laboratory medicine, prof. dr. sc. Mario Plebani had a lecture about new quality indicators and dr. sc. Anna Carobene talked about the importance of biological variability. Scientific program also featured 80 poster abstracts from Croatia and abroad. Six authors have received bursaries from CSMBLM. Abstracts of all lectures and posters are available as Biochemia Medica Supplement at http://www.biochemia-medica.com/node/703.
8th CSMBLM congress was a chance for over a 100 participants from IVD companies to present their work trough 7 industrial workshops and 26 display stands.
Every day official part of congress was ended by different social events. This way, participants got to know Rijeka and relaxed for next congress day. Participants had a chance to grade the congress by fulfilling a questionnaire regarding their satisfaction. According to overall grade of congress given by participants and their generous comments, 8th HDMBLM congress was very successful. Marry atmosphere at congress closure, as well as suggestions of participants, are motivation for organization of an even more successful 9th HDMBLM congress in year 2018.
